Hopeville State Pond Griswold, Connecticut
What I love about Growing up in Griswold and returning is the deep love I now have for our area. In my youth and Plein Air painting with Foster Caddell, I took so much for granted. I thought everyone did this! Hopeville Pond was not only one of the many beautiful ponds I painted, it was also Girl Scout Heaven where we camped and worked on our badges. I’m truly enjoying the joy of my sketchbook by recapturing my childhood with each brush stroke. Because of all my years of traveling and painting, I have everything down to the simplest of supplies. With my learning curve far removed years ago, I can easily get out of Daddy’s Old Truck and paint without bringing any attention to myself as I enjoy my outdoor sport. Because I draw everyday, I was able to do this painting in one sitting. Also, I felt relatively safe here out of the truck with mace and Daddy’s pocket knife close at hand. Always practice Safety when painting alone.
